Pew Center on CC Changes Funders

At first glance this looks like a mistake: The reputable Pew Center on Global Climate Change now has different funders, and they include Shell Oil, Entergy, and the notorious Duke Energy.

They will now be known as the "Center for Climate and Energy Solutions," a name that suggests a significantly different approach and which indicates the new funding has already had an influence. Ok, maybe you can argue that Climate Change is now a fact and it's time to focus on solutions. But you could have argued that before the funding change, too.

You just can't escape the perception that funding has consequences, whether it actually does or not. (And who really believes it doesn't?) And that organizations value their survival above all else, especially the inside-the-Beltway types.

It will be interesting to see if they get the WGFTGIGFTG* treatment.
